A Rocky View Bungalow

A Formal Dining Room Fit for a Party

A grand dining room, fit to impress

Often I see too many pieces of furniture, décor or items stored in a formal dining room. It is not a room a lot of people use well or show great. Our busy lives usually don’t allow for dinner parties, larger gatherings of festive dinners. Collections are stored here, extra dish ware and glasses are moved here. The formal dining room often becomes our “everything” room, the school room, the home office, the craft room.

This is a formal dining room in a beautiful bungalow West of Calgary. The large pieces of furniture were crowding the room and made it hard to even sit down. It was clear this room hardly was used and that can be an alarm bell for buyers to see: What to do with this room?

When preparing for sale it is so important to reflect the value of the home, in a listing photo. Buyers need to understand what they are buying, see the lifestyle the home offers. A formal dining room needs to be shown in a classy and sophisticated way: This is where we serve dinner during parties and family holidays.

During a showing it is also important the buyers can walk around furniture, in order to see the entire room and walk up to the windows.

During my staging consultation I offered the best possible paint colors for the walls, gave advice on reduction of furniture and streamlining the presentation of the space.

Great success! This bungalow outside of the city limits, was sold. A firm deal within a month after listing.
